I’m a normal woman. I’m not extraordinary in the least. I have had hardships just like many women, I’ve dealt with things in my life that have forever changed my view of humanity in general, but overall I’m just a normal person going from day to day trying to be the best I can be. But when it comes to health and fitness, many in the community “seem” to be different. There are those that can eat what they want and never worry about weight, there are many who can lose weight quickly and keep it off, there are those that can stick to a diet day in and day out, regardless of their life circumstances. I am not one of those.

I remember about a year ago I had an exercise guru give me honest feedback on a web page I had made for my Beachbody business. I had been honest in my tag line for the page, saying I was an average girl who just struggled every day, wanting to be healthier in an unhealthy world. To me it was the truth. The feedback I got was not quite what I expected. She wanted me to change the word struggle because it seemed so negative. She didn’t want me to call the world unhealthy, that was negative too. Everything I was to say had to be positive, and I understand why but don’t necessarily agree with it.

Positivity attracts, it makes people feel hopefully, happy. Being negative therefore would do the opposite. But my morals also entice me to tell the truth. Staying healthy is not easy for me, on the contrary it is quite hard. I struggle every single day with the choices I make. I push everyday to eat right, exercise, stay healthy, you name it. Honestly, it is not something that comes as second nature to me and I fail often.

But while I say those negative words “struggle, hard, push”, there should be solace in the fact that I’m still doing it. I’ve seen my body change, I’ve changed my overall eating habits. While not perfect, I’d say 90% of the time is way better than 25% of the time. I think most women are the same way, they have to work at it, so lets be honest. As I love to say, I’m not a twig, I’m not a supermodel, I’m just a normal woman striving to be better than I was yesterday, and I’m doing it while keeping it real for all of you!
